This hike takes place in the foothills of the Ausangate Mountain their nature painted one of its best works. Multicoloured lagoons and imposing snow-capped peaks will accompany us during the two days of this hike. It won’t be unusual to see local people herding their flocks of alpacas and llamas; and if we are lucky, we might see vicuñas a as well.
We will leave Cusco to head towards Ocongate, where we will make a stop to buy fruit, water or other necessities for the hike. We will then continue towards Pacchanta where we will meet our group of mule handlers and pack animals. Once the gear is packed on the animals, we will start the hike, carrying our personal belongings, water and snacks in our daypacks. During the afternoon, we will arrive at our campsite, where we will spend the night.
We will wake with the first rays of sun to eat breakfast. We will start hiking down a separate valley towards Pacchanta. The hike ends here and while we wait for lunch, we’ll have the opportunity to take a soak in the hot springs. We’ll say goodbye to the team of mule handlers after lunch and then return to Cusco.
